AACM’s response to the inflight turn back incident of Aerostan’s cargo flight   2022-11-23

On 23 November 2022, a cargo aircraft destined to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from Macao, with flight number BSC4053 and aircraft type Boeing 747-200F, departed from Macau International Airport at 13:16 but then encountered a failure in one of the engines some time after and returned to Macau International Airport. Upon receipt of the incident notification, the airport activated the Emergency Operations Centre at 13:46 to prepare for the contingency work. The cargo aircraft eventually landed safely on the runway at 13:59 and was towed to the apron for inspection. The incident did not cause any injuries to the crew members. The Emergency Operations Centre was deactivated at 14:44 and the airport resumed normal operations hence after. 

In accordance with the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System of the Civil Aviation Authority, the concerned air operator should file in their written notification to the Authority within 72 hours after the incident. The Authority will decide on the follow up tasks after evaluating the written information.
