
To enhance the cooperation between mainland China and Macao on aviation safety and the use of air space, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) pays a four-day visit to Macao and signed with the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau SAR (AACM) a memorandum of understanding on air traffic management with the aim of promoting the speed-up of the expansion of Macau International Airport, promoting the efficiency of the use of airspace and enhancing cooperation on aviation safety management.
The CAAC delegation is led by the Deputy Administrator Mr. Li Jian and composed of the Director General of Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) Mr. Che Jinjun, the Director General of Middle and South Regional Office Mr. Zhou Yizhou, the Director General of the Department of Flight Standards Mr. Hu ZhenJiang, the Director General of the Department of Airworthiness Certification Mr. Xu ChaoQun, the Head of the Hong Kong Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office Mr. Ding Ming and the officials from the respective offices. The CAAC delegation met with AACM to discuss the further enhancement of the development of aviation safety and the optimization of the use of airspace between the two places. The two parties signed today (25 May) the “Memorandum of Understanding for the cooperation between Mainland China and Macao China in support of the expansion of Macau International Airport and in enhancing the efficiency of air traffic management” to ultimately strive for enhanced cooperation of aviation development.
According to the MOU, both sides will take a proactive attitude to promote the efficiency of the use of airspace in the Big Bay Area in order to enhance the expansion of the airports in the Area, promote the application of the new navigation technology in the flight procedures in the Big Bay Area, enhance aviation safety management by sharing the technical data required for airspace planning and flight procedure design in the Big Bay Area, and enhance the exchange of aviation academics and professional training.
The MOU signing ceremony was convened in the AACM headquarter at 15:00. The Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Mr. Raimundo do Rosário and the Deputy Administrator of CAAC, Mr. Li Jian presided at the signing ceremony as the guests of honour. The signatories representing both sides were the Director General of ATMB, Mr. Che JinJun and the President of AACM, Mr. Chan Weng Hong.
The CAAC delegation also takes the opportunity of the Macao visit to meet with the aviation operators in Macao including CAM-Macau International Airport Company Limited, Air Macau Company Limited, East Asia Airlines Limited, Macau Jet International Company Ltd. and Macau Business Aviation Centre.
